Biography

James grew up in communities throughout Bruce County, living in Port Elgin, Kincardine, Tiverton, Cargill, Ripley, and Southampton, before obtaining a degree in Criminal Justice and Public Policy from the University of Guelph, followed by a law degree from the University of Windsor.
During his time in law school, James worked in the Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities Program at the Ministry of Community and Social Services before beginning a clerkship at the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories. There, James developed a deep appreciation for what makes Canada a great country while also being made aware of the wide array of challenges that rural and remote communities face.
Currently serving as an Assistant Crown Attorney with the Ministry of the Attorney General, James is passionate about justice for everyone. As a former crown ward, he understands the need to advocate for those whose voices too often go unheard and has served with the Bruce-Grey Child and Family Services and the Children's Aid Foundation of Canada.
Before his career as a prosecutor, James was also involved with local agricultural societies and is a strong advocate for rural excellence. He understands the needs, hopes, and desires of youth and seniors alike and the importance of building a strong economy that works for everyone.
James is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Katie Caldecott of Walkerton and they are raising their daughter in our community.
