Virginia Bremner

Throughout her life and career Virginia has been guided by her desire to contribute to her community. She worked on the frontlines of mental health challenges in a community-based outreach centre and as the Executive Director of her local Business Improvement Association. Her passion for public service continued in the Office of Premier of British Columbia.
Most recently, Virginia worked for the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade and World Trade Centre Vancouver helping local businesses create trade and investment connections with international markets.
If elected, Virginia will be Canada’s first woman of Filipino descent to go to Ottawa. She seeks to represent Vancouver Kingsway and will fight to support families and children, greater housing affordability, stronger local businesses, and those building a better life in Canada.
The youngest of ten children, Virginia moved to Vancouver, Canada from the Philippines at the age of seven years old.
As with many immigrant families, her family’s journey was challenging. Virginia’s father, the breadwinner of their large family, was tragically murdered right before leaving for Canada. Left widowed, Virginia’s mother, Elena (who was lovingly known as Nanay) with a deep passion for family and tremendous attributes of stoic leadership, led her large family in not only surviving this tragedy, but thriving in the Canadian dream.
Her mom’s strength instilled a great sense of gratitude and an obligation to work hard and contribute to her family and society. This meant paper routes around Joyce-Collingwood and working two jobs by the time she was 16 right here in Vancouver Kingsway.
She attended Grenfell Elementary, then Windermere Secondary before graduating from Killarney.
