Biography

Kevin Murphy was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly as MLA for Eastern Shore in 2013 and was re-elected in 2017. Kevin has been the Speaker of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly since 2013, making him the longest currently serving Canadian Speaker.

Kevin has a spinal cord injury as a result of a hockey accident in 1985 and has never let his disability be a barrier to anything he has set his mind to. Kevin has a long history of community involvement in many organizations along the Eastern Shore

Kevin graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Commerce and has remained in the community of the Eastern Shore operating several successful small businesses over the past 3 decades.

Kevin and his wife Stephanie have been married since 1999, and reside in Porters Lake with their two children Jackson and Rachael.
